Exciting Volunteer Opportunities in Excelsior Springs

Have you ever sat at home wondering how you could be more involved with the city? Or maybe wondered where you can use your talents in town? Well, you’ve come to the right place my friend. I have gathered every exciting volunteer opportunity I could find in Excelsior, and I am going to share them all with you right here! 

Starting things off with Downtown Excelsior Partnership. There are several different teams you can sign up to be a part of – promotion, organization, economic vitality, design, website, BBQ & Fly-In, Home Brew and Christmas. 

Like DEP, the Chamber of Commerce also has a variety of opportunities available! For instance, dinner and auction, awards (business and community), economic development, professional development, finance, marketing/tourism, trolley, Waterfest, and their newest committee – West Side!

If you are looking to serve on a board or commission, volunteering with the city is the spot for you! Here you can find a form if you are interested in the following areas Board of Zoning Adjustment, Capital Improvements Authority, Community Center Board, Enhanced Enterprise Zone, Hall of Waters Steering Committee, Historic Preservation Commission, Hospital Board, Housing Authority, Parks and Rec Board, Planning and Zoning Commission, Public Safety Sales Tax, Special Road District, and/or Tax Increment Financing.

If you want to help in a specific location, maybe the Good Samaritan Center or the Excelsior Springs Museum are right for you. The Good Samaritan Center has opportunities in the following areas, pantry, thrift store workers, Harvesters driving teams, client transport, receptionist, office support, maintenance and repair, lawn care and snow removal, fundraising, Tables by Design, golf tournament, 5K run, and homeless connection. 

The Excelsior Springs Museum has opportunities in maintenance/custodial, painting, carpentry, weaving, sewing, quilting, clothing maintenance, educator, tour scheduling, tour leader, local exhibit maintenance, date entry/Word processing, writing articles and essays, Desktop Publishing (newsletter), imaging (scanning/digital photos), videography (story and narration), website and social media, bookkeeping/business management, fundraising, grant writing, exhibition documentation, and community liaison. 

There are still more opportunities to get to! THRIVE has task forces in the following areas, housing, economic vitality and health and wellness. Parks and Rec is hosting an Earth Day Cleanup event. The Excelsior Springs Hospital has opportunities in home hospice as well as a general volunteer page here. There are also great organizations like Meet the Need/Opportunity Café, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, and Friends of the Wells.

As you can see, our town hosts a variety of opportunities for volunteer work. Whether you are interested in helping with your favorite annual event, serving on a board, or using your talents to serve, there is surely an opportunity for you.
