It’s been an eventful few weeks in our community, with businesses blossoming, old spaces reimagining themselves, and fresh ventures setting down roots. Let’s take a look at some of the dynamic shifts and delightful additions to Excelsior Springs’ business landscape.
Daylight Delight: All of Excelsior Springs was buzzing with excitement as Daylight Donuts announced its new location at 119 Crown Hill Rd. Owner Zak Keng, who also operates a location in Paola, KS, was recently spotted discussing layout plans with contractors. Besides delightful donuts, expect some refreshing Boba Tea come early 2024.
Elegance on Broadway: The address 109 E Broadway Ave now belongs to a couple set to unveil Huey’s Hidden Vault—a unique bartique and cigar lounge by Spring 2024. Stay updated on their journey here.
Hydroponics in Excelsior: A new growers supply shop has rooted itself at 500 St. Louis Ave downtown. Note: This isn’t a marijuana dispensary but a haven for soil-less plant growth enthusiasts. Hydroponics facilitates faster and healthier plant growth via nutrient-rich solutions.
Charm at Abbie’s: Newcomer Abbie’s Sweet Peas on 459 S. Thompson Ave offers eclectic gifts from home decor to jewelry. Bonus? Every purchase comes with a charm—a fun experiment she hopes will become a downtown merchant tradition.

Anniversaries: A hearty congrats to Sweet Affair Bakery and Solona on Broadway for hitting their one-year mark this month!

Dining Throwback: Word has it, the iconic Mill Inn Restaurant will soon cater to families again under its new ownership.
From Pizzas to Progress: The old Pizza Hut location at 101 Crown Hill Rd is destined for demolition to make way for two new business ventures.
Antiques and Markets: Kilgore Vintage + Design takes over Fishing River Market on 414 S Thompson Ave with a vision of retail spaces focused on antiques. They’re planning to reopen in time for the Christmas celebrations beginning in November. They are also collaborating with the Excelsior Springs Farmers Market, and will offer the iconic Hitch Lot for the market. A special Christmas Farmers Market will pop up on December 2nd, 9 am-1 pm at the Hitch Lot to help kick things off.
Paradise’s Next Act: The Paradise Playhouse is about to embrace a fresh chapter. Acquired by a local group, it’s set to dazzle with shows in the coming months and will officially transition in the next 60 days.
Wining, Dining & Shining: Wine & Shine relocates with added zest! The mother-daughter power duo Cheryl Boos and Misty Wright not only serve eclectic wines and moonshines but now introduce a mouth-watering menu. Stop by from 11-5, Tuesday through Saturday, at their new/old address—259 E Broadway Ave. Dive into daily specials like savory bread bowls, delightful deli sandwiches, and more.
