August 15, 2022, Laura Mize of the City of Excelsior Springs Community Development Department presented a resolution to City Council Monday evening regarding a partnership between the city, Rebuilding Together KC, Inc., and Northland Neighborhoods, Inc. to provide a minor home repair program for the City of Excelsior Springs.
Council Sets Double Fee Permits for Rule Breakers – Excelsior Citizen
The Community Development Department presented a resolution to City Council Monday evening regarding a change to the fee schedule that would add a double permit fee when a property owner or contractor begins work without obtaining a permit. City staff have seen an increase in work being commenced without permits. When this happens, a Stop Work order is issued for the project, and all work must stop until a permit is obtained.
MoDOT Puts an End to “Sonic Pothole,” For Now… – Excelsior Citizen

Train Merger Meeting Delivers Concern to Excelsior Springs – Excelsior Citizen
Area citizens gathered at the Montgomery Event Venue on Wednesday evening to learn more about how the proposed merger between railroad giants Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern will affect Excelsior Springs. The Surface Transportation Board’s Office (STB) sent representatives to several communities along the railway to share a Draft Environmental Impact Statement and to hear concerns and gather additional information as it pertains to the merger.

Overnight Shooting in Excelsior Springs Leaves One Dead, One in Critical Condition – Excelsior Citizen
An overnight shooting near downtown Excelsior Springs sent two local residents to the hospital in critical condition. Since then one of the victims has died as a result of their injuries. At approximately 12:11 AM a call came across police radio dispatching officers to the area of North Main Street on the report of “gunshots fired.”
