Excelsior Springs has been selected to host the 2025 Connecting Entrepreneurial Communities (CEC) Conference, an annual event organized by the University of Missouri Extension. The conference will take place from September 30 to October 2, 2025, bringing a diverse group of economic developers, community leaders, elected officials, and educators to the city.
Annette Kendall, outgoing CEC chair and MU assistant extension professor, announced the 2025 theme: “The Re-Conference: Refresh. Revive. Retool.” Kendall explained that the conference will focus on equipping participants with innovative tools and strategies for fostering economic growth through entrepreneurship.
A Perfect Fit for the Theme
Excelsior Springs was chosen for its unique blend of historical charm and vibrant community spirit. “Our city has a rich history as a place where people come to refresh and reenergize,” said Melinda Mehaffy, Excelsior Springs’ economic development director. “This conference will not only showcase our community but also bring fresh ideas, partnerships, and economic potential that will benefit our town and others across Missouri.”
Excelsior Springs, once known for its natural mineral springs, was a destination for wellness and relaxation. Today, that legacy continues through its thriving businesses and innovative community. Kendall described the town as an ideal setting for participants to “refresh and revive their mindsets” while learning to foster innovation and economic resilience.
