Excelsior Springs, Mo. (January 15, 2025) — A man accused of entering a residence uninvited and assaulting an occupant earlier this month has been taken into custody, according to Excelsior Springs Police Department Lieutenant Ryan Dowdy.
The incident occurred on Jan. 7 at a home located at 321 W. Broadway. Police allege that Frederick Walters Jr. entered the residence without invitation, leading to an altercation. During the confrontation, Walters reportedly brandished a knife and inflicted a facial laceration on the victim.
Since the incident, authorities had been searching for Walters. On Jan. 15, officers gained access to a residence where they believed Walters was hiding and arrested him. Walters was questioned by ESPD, and Clay County prosecutors issued a warrant against him.
Walters faces charges of first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, and armed criminal action. He is currently being held in custody on a $25,000 bond.
“This location has become a problematic hotspot over the past year,” Dowdy noted, adding that law enforcement is working to address ongoing issues in the area.
No further details about the victim’s condition or additional charges were available at the time of publication.
