
A fatal car crash occurred on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at around 5:05 PM, claiming the life of a 23-year-old resident from Excelsior Springs. The crash happened on Highway O just north of Brashears Road in Ray County, Missouri.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol crash report, the driver identified as Hunter C Colbert lost control of his 1998 Ford Mustang while navigating a curve. The vehicle went off the right side of the road, striking a concrete bridge structure before coming to a rest.
Despite wearing a safety device, Hunter C Colbert sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Beau Minson at 6:09 PM. Ray County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene of the accident. The vehicle sustained total damage and was towed away by Dorton’s Tow, Orrick, MO.
The Missouri Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident to determine the exact cause of the crash. The community of Excelsior Springs mourns the loss of a young life and expresses condolences to the family and friends of Hunter.
