Gladstone, Mo. – A strong delegation from Excelsior Springs joined local officials and community leaders at the Clay County Economic Development Council’s “Meet Your Legislator” event on Friday, January 31. The gathering, held at Northwest Missouri State University’s Gladstone campus, provided an opportunity for residents and city leaders to connect directly with elected representatives from the Missouri House and Senate.

Originally planned for the iWerx Gladstone location, the event was moved due to overwhelming response, ultimately drawing approximately 160 attendees over its two-hour span. State officials in attendance included Senators Maggie Nurrenbern and Kurtis Gregory and House Representatives Chris Brown, Josh Hurlbert, and Eric Woods. (Rep. Mark Meirath was unable to attend due to illness).

Among them were Economic Development Director Melinda Mehaffy, City Manager Molly McGovern, Chamber Director Brian Rice, Downtown Excelsior Partnership (DEP) Director Lyndsey Baxter, Councilman Reggie St. John, Mayor Pro Tem Stephen Spear, Mayor Mark Spohn, Pastor Mike Boudreaux, Excelsior Springs Job Corps Deputy Center Director Bruce Burnett, and Councilman Gary Renne.

The event allowed local officials to discuss key issues affecting Excelsior Springs and Clay County, including economic growth, infrastructure investment, and workforce development. Excelsior Springs leaders used the opportunity to strengthen relationships with state lawmakers and highlight the city’s ongoing efforts to foster business growth and community development.
