Excelsior Springs, MO – Excelsior Springs Hospital (ESH) will be saying goodbye to a familiar face this week. Long-time medical staff coordinator Renita Wilhelmi is retiring on May 1, 2024, after 26 years of service.
Wilhelmi’s career at ESH, which began on June 8, 1998, has been marked by her instrumental role in ensuring the hospital’s compliance with credentialing regulations for physicians and health professionals. Her meticulous verification of doctors’ education, internships, and residencies has been a cornerstone of their operations for years.
Before joining ESH, Wilhelmi honed her skills in medical credentialing for over two decades at a business assurance company in Kansas City.
“It’s been a great run, and I’ve seen a lot of change,” Wilhelmi said. “The biggest changes I’ve seen have been in technology. We used to type policies and procedures on typewriters, and now everything is done electronically. It’s much faster and more efficient.”
Looking forward to her well-deserved retirement, Wilhelmi is excited about the prospect of spending more quality time with her family, including her grandchildren and a new great-granddaughter. She also has plans to indulge in her passions of crafting and gardening and plans to take on some home improvement projects.
“I’m looking forward to not having to wake up to an alarm every morning,” Wilhelmi admitted with a laugh. “But, I’ll be surprised if I can sleep in much past 6 AM.”
The staff of Excelsior Springs Hospital showed their gratitude to Renita for her dedication and service over the past 26 years at a going away party this past Thursday (April 25). “Renita has been a delight and will certainly be missed by everyone here at the hospital,” proclaimed ESH CEO Kristen DeHart.
