June 24, 2023 – The Little Miss and Mr. Waterfest contest added an extra touch of delight to the festivities on Saturday. Sponsored by Kalyn Goode’s Salon, this heartwarming competition welcomed boys and girls aged 4 to 11 to showcase their unique personalities. In the lead-up to the festival, young contestants eagerly prepared for their moment in the spotlight. The non-formal dress code allowed them to express their individuality and shine as their authentic selves. Excitement filled the air as the stage was set for a celebration of the town’s youngest stars.

Saturday morning the Waterfest Parade took center stage captivating the crowd with its vibrant floats and cast of local characters. Families and friends lined the streets, eagerly cheering on the Little Miss and Mr. Waterfest contestants.

Among the talented group of children, two young individuals stood out. Riley Gooch, a spirited and determined young girl, was crowned Little Miss Waterfest 2023. Joining her was Phoenix Holman, a joyful and charismatic young boy, who claimed the title of Little Mr. Waterfest 2023. Their beaming smiles and genuine enthusiasm warmed the hearts of all who witnessed their moment in the spotlight.

Riley, bubbling with excitement, expressed her love for every aspect of the contest, particularly the exhilarating parade experience. Phoenix shared his simple but profound sentiment: making people smile brought him made him feel happy.

Beyond their roles as Little Miss and Mr. Waterfest, Riley and Phoenix embraced their positions as ambassadors of happiness. They generously dedicated time Saturday afternoon to signing autographs and posing for pictures with festival attendees, spreading their contagious joy throughout the Waterfest celebration.

Goode expressed her enthusiasm for the contest, emphasizing the importance of empowering children and fostering self-confidence.
