Excelsior Springs Celebrates Holiday Season with Community Events

Excelsior Springs is aglow with festive spirit as the community dives into the holiday season, offering a variety of events for families and residents to enjoy, despite some cancellations due to weather.

The holiday cheer kicked off on Thursday evening at the Wine and Shine Tasting Room, where the Excelsior Springs Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their Holiday After Hours. Local business and city leaders, along with other community members, gathered for a convivial evening that featured a surprise visit from the Grinch. Hosts Cheryl Boos and Misty Wright showcased a generous spread of sausages, cheeses, and other party essentials available for purchase at their establishment.

Over the weekend, the holiday spirit ramped up with multiple events across the city. On Saturday, the Elks Lodge transformed into a winter wonderland for children to snap photos with Santa Claus. The event was enhanced with activities including Christmas card crafting, a prize wheel, and magic shows by young magician Ethan Davids, affectionately known as “Magic E.” Treats such as cookies and candy canes added to the festive atmosphere.

Roberts Robinson Chevrolet GMC hosted a dual celebration featuring Pictures with Santa and karaoke, alongside a successful toy drive that filled a pickup truck, with all donations going to Meet the Need. Additionally, ReeceNichols Excelsior Springs welcomed visitors for their annual open house, combining festive fun with a food drive catering to both people and pets.

Saturday also saw the DEP’s “Cocktails and Candy Canes” event, which invited locals to explore downtown businesses while savoring seasonal treats and drinks. The weekend concluded with a joint service at the First United Methodist Church, where members of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church joined for a traditional “Lessons and Carols” service, celebrating the season with song and scripture.

Adding a playful twist to the holiday activities, Re/Max Real Estate’s The Simmons Team introduced “You’ve Been Elfed,” a game encouraging community members to surprise friends or family with treats and a festive sign, fostering a chain of holiday cheer throughout neighborhoods.

Residents and visitors can continue to enjoy the Lane of Lights and the Hall of Trees, open through the holiday season, offering a perfect backdrop for making cherished memories.
