Following the recent announcement that eight Kansas City-area Applebee’s locations will be closing, Excelsior Springs residents grew concerned about the future of their local Applebee’s. News of the abrupt closures, which left employees of the affected locations locked out without prior notice, sparked questions across the community about whether Excelsior Springs’ Applebee’s might also be at risk.
To get some clarity, we reached out to the Excelsior Springs Applebee’s. While direct management was unavailable for an official statement, local manager Troy Wieberg addressed the situation in a social media response to us, stating, “Excelsior Springs Applebee’s is part of a different franchise company (than the Kansas City locations). Sales have been great in Excelsior Springs, and we have no plans to close.”
This confirmation offers reassurance to our community that, despite the unfortunate closures elsewhere, Excelsior Springs’ Applebee’s remains a part of our town’s dining scene. For now, the neighborhood Applebee’s many enjoy will continue to serve the community.
