Excelsior Springs, MO — Excelsior Springs is getting ready for an exciting, new, family-friendly event at Tiger Stadium this spring, aimed at supporting Special Olympics athletes. The festival, set to take place on May 15th, promises a full slate of athletic events, delicious food, and fun activities for all ages.
Starting at 4:00 PM, attendees will be welcomed with opening remarks and the national anthem, kicking off a series of track and field events featuring Special Olympics athletes. Highlights of the competition include the 100M dash, a scooter race, a 50M walk, the softball throw, and even a mini-javelin toss. Each event will provide plenty of photo opportunities, with medals being awarded to participants.
In addition to the athletic competitions, the festival will offer a variety of activities perfect for family fun. Kids and families can enjoy outdoor games and a variety of attractions, including bounce houses, bubbles, and yard games, which are sure to entertain all evening.
For food enthusiasts, there will be no shortage of options with three local food trucks on site: Donut Envy, Raquelita’s Mexican Food, and Lip Smackin’ BBQ. These eateries will serve up a mix of sweet treats, traditional Mexican fare, and classic barbecue, ensuring there’s something for every palate.
The festival will also feature two raffle draws and a Mascot Dance Off, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. As the festival is designed to be accessible for all, the entry fee is donation-based, with proceeds going to support Special Olympics programs.
