Excelsior Springs families had no shortage of Easter festivities to choose from this year, with events across the community offering something for all ages. Among the highlights were two major celebrations hosted by The Elms Hotel and Spa and the Excelsior Springs Community Center, each drawing large crowds and delivering memorable moments for local children and families.
At the Excelsior Springs Community Center, dozens of families gathered Friday evening for the center’s annual egg hunt. Children raced across the grassy fields behind the building to collect colorful eggs filled with candy and surprises. Organized by the city’s Parks and Recreation staff, the event served as a fun, free way for children ages 0–15 to kick off their Easter weekend with neighbors and friends.
Two days later, the Grand Easter Egg Hunt at The Elms Hotel and Spa made a grand return after more than 30 years. Newly reinstated by General Manager Duke Christopher, the event marked a major step in reconnecting the historic hotel with the local community. Three separate egg hunts were held at the hotel: one at 11 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. for children, followed by a special teen and adult hunt later in the day.
More than just an egg scramble, the event featured music, Easter Bunny photo ops, and prizes that totaled over $10,000 in value. Lucky egg hunters found golden eggs redeemable for hotel stays, spa treatments, pool passes, restaurant gift cards, and more. Many families also enjoyed a delicious Easter brunch inside the hotel’s Three Owls Restaurant. The Grand Easter Egg Hunt at the hotel will become an annual event.
From the fields of the Community Center to the historic grounds of The Elms, Easter in Excelsior Springs offered more than candy and colorful eggs — it brought neighbors together and rekindled traditions that will continue for years to come.
