In celebration of Earth Day, the Parks and Recreation Department is spearheading a community-wide cleanup initiative to promote environmental sustainability. The event, which will take place on Saturday April 20th, will bring together volunteers from all corners of the city.
The Facebook event page says volunteers will meet at the Carolyn Schutte Pocket Park (located at 117 W Broadway St Excelsior Springs, MO 64024) to get directions and
giveaways before breaking out into groups. The event starts at 9am. If you are interested in bringing a group to help, contact Parks and Rec director, Nate Williams at
natewilliams@es-prcc.com .
Williams describes the event saying, “The Earth Day event is always a great reason to get out in the community and take ownership to clean up where we work and play. It doesn’t cost anything to participate.” He goes on to say, “we typically have groups that will pick up trash downtown, clean up & weed the pocket parks, walk the riverbeds to clean out trash.” Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate!
The cleanup event not only aims to improve the aesthetic appeal of public areas but also fosters a sense of community pride and environmental responsibility. As the countdown to the event begins, anticipation is building among volunteers eager to roll up their sleeves and make a positive difference. By working hand in hand, residents can make a substantial impact on the well-being of our town and the planet as a whole.
