Excelsior Springs, MO – As the calendar flips to March, the residents of Excelsior Springs know it’s time for a beloved local tradition: the opening of Dari-B. This annual event celebrated on March 1st, has transformed into more than just the commencement of a business season—it’s a community holiday that heralds the arrival of spring.

Dari-B, a cornerstone of the Excelsior Springs community, has served up smiles and scoops of ice cream for seventy years! Founded in 1954, the quaint ice cream parlor quickly became a local favorite, known for its friendly service and delicious ice cream. Under the current stewardship of Jonathan Saura and Kat Stano, Dari-B continues to thrive, blending tradition with new flavors and experiences.

As was with the tradition, long lines of eager customers snaked around the building. Families, friends, and first-time visitors all waited with the same excited energy, sharing stories of past visits or planning their ice cream selections. Saura and Stano had prepared for weeks, feeling the excitement and responsibility, knowing they were about to embark on another season of serving joy one scoop at a time.

“The opening of Dari-B isn’t just about welcoming back our loyal customers,” says Jonathan, his eyes sparkling with the promise of the new season. “It’s about reigniting a sense of community, celebrating the warmth of spring, and creating memories that last a lifetime.”

Kat added, “We’re always amazed by the turnout. It’s a reminder of how much Dari-B means to Excelsior Springs. We’re honored to be a part of this tradition and to keep the legacy alive.”

As the day unfolded, laughter and conversation filled the air, mixing with the sweet scent of fresh ice cream. For many, this event is more than an indulgence in their favorite frozen treat; it’s a ritual that marks the changing of seasons, a time to reconnect with neighbors, and a moment to step away from the rush of daily life.
