Local residents interested in becoming safer and more confident while biking on city streets will have a unique opportunity this spring. A Confident City Cycling class, taught by licensed cycling instructors, is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Excelsior Springs Community Center.
The free, full-day training is open to the public but limited to a small class size to allow for personalized instruction. Participants are encouraged to register early to secure a spot. Registration is available online at no cost.
This hands-on course will cover essential topics such as the rules of the road, lane positioning, understanding bicycle facilities, and how to navigate traffic safely. The training also includes on-bike skills practice and a guided road ride to help participants apply what they’ve learned in real-world conditions.
Attendees must bring their own bicycle and are responsible for ensuring it is in good working order. Helmets are required for all participants.
The event is being hosted in partnership by Bike Walk KC, Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation, and the Clay County Public Health Center, as part of a broader effort to promote safe, active transportation in the region.
