The Excelsior Springs Community Center has launched a unique fundraiser they’re calling “mustachES” to support their Community Center Scholarship Fund, aimed at assisting community members with various center programs, including memberships and swim lessons. This creative campaign invites participants to grow their best mustache as a fun way to contribute to the cause.
“We have had some students from ESSD that the staff has recommended for a scholarship, and those students that have been awarded the scholarship have been held accountable to maintain good grades, get involved in different activities, and become our peer leaders within the facility,” said Nate Williams Community Center Director. “I can’t really give out any names, but I can tell you those kids are very appreciative of their membership scholarships and are always very respectful when in the facility.”
Here’s how residents can take part: by nurturing their mustache throughout November, interested participants can showcase their support for the community. Donations can be made through the ES Community Foundation by visiting their website at https://esgives.org/mustaches/. After making a contribution of any amount, participants are encouraged to share a photo of their mustache on the ESCC Facebook page or send it through Facebook Messenger to ESCC. At the end of the month they’ll put together an album to share with the community.
The mustachES initiative is not only a way to raise funds but also a chance to bring the community together through a shared, light-hearted experience. The campaign is expected to run through November 2023, offering plenty of time for community members to get involved, donate, and flaunt their mustache styles—all for a good cause.
