The Excelsior Springs City Council will meet on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the Hall of Waters Council Chambers, one day later than normal due to the Labor Day holiday.
Agenda Items:
Due to the August 10, 2024 meeting being canceled, the last council meeting was on August 5, 2024.
At the August 5, 2024, City Council meeting, the Excelsior Springs City Council addressed several key issues:
- Re-Appointments to Vintage Plaza CID Board: The council approved the reappointment of Robert Craven and Jeremy Stone to the Vintage Plaza Community Improvement District (CID) board, extending their terms until December 19, 2027.
- Chicken Permit Fee Adjustment: The council approved an amendment to the chicken permit fee structure, reducing the initial permit fee from $100 to $50, while keeping the annual renewal fee at $50.
- Renewal of Special Use Permit for 706 St. Louis Ave.: The council renewed a Special Use Permit for a short-term rental at 706 St. Louis Avenue, with no additional stipulations or time limits. The property has been in compliance with city codes, and no neighborhood issues have been reported.
- New Special Use Permit for 205 Woods Ave.: A new Special Use Permit was granted for a short-term rental at 205 Woods Avenue. The permit was approved with an initial two-year time limit to allow for future review.
- Proposed Amendments to R-4 Medium Density Residential District: The council reviewed proposed amendments to the R-4 zoning regulations intended to correct errors from a 2022 ordinance. However, concerns were raised that the changes could negatively impact projects like Eden Village, a proposed tiny-home community for the unsheltered. In response, the council postponed the decision and directed city staff to revisit the amendments to ensure they align with broader zoning goals and do not hinder community initiatives.
