Highlights from the March 7, 2022, Excelsior Springs City Council meeting:
Mayor Sharon Powell began the meeting by officially proclaiming March 2022 as Dari-B Month in Excelsior Springs. In attendance to accept the proclamation were Susan Mcaullife, Tom Carol, John Saura

Christi Rice (not in attendance) was reappointed to the MU 4-H Extension Council.
Lyndsey Baxter, Director for the Downtown Excelsior Partnership, presented DEP’s annual report highlighting the achievements and giving an outlook for future projects in our downtown business corridor.

The Council approved $95,620.00 for the replacement of the concrete aprons at the fire station. In the letter to the council Fire Chief, Joe Maddick said “Over the last 26 years the trucks have caused the concrete to crack and the ladder truck is now causing depressions where the outriggers sit. This could potentially be very dangerous.”
Other items on the agenda, Consideration of Agreement for Consulting Engineering Services with Bartlett & West, Consideration of Public Transit Operating Assistance Grant Agreement with MoDOT, Consideration of Special Use Permit for 608 Benton Ave., Consideration of Amendment to Special Use Permit for 300 Milwaukee, Consideration of Amendment to Special Use Permit Process, Consideration of Personnel Policy Amendments, and Appropriations.
The Council thanked Logan Sours, Community Development Planner, for his service as he is leaving his position with the City of Excelsior Springs to pursue a career in the private sector.
