Because of the Labor Day holiday the City Council met on Tuesday September 8th. At only twenty minutes long, the meeting mainly consisted of general “housekeeping” activity. Many of the annual appointments were made for government and community boards. Board appointments are made by recommendation of the boards themselves, or by interested volunteers who approach the City Council for consideration. Appointments that were made on Tuesday include:
Downtown Commercial Community Improvement District, Keith Hudson
Hospital Board, Janine Stubbs and Mike Anderson
Public Safety Sales Tax Oversight Board, John McGovern and Brad Eales
Zoning Adjustments Board, John McGovern as 3rd alternate
Capital Improvements Transportation Trust Board, Steven Stubbs
Board reappointments included:
Capital Improvements Transportation Trust Authority, Lyndsey Baxter
Planning and Zoning, Sandy Barnes and Dustin Borchert
Community Center Advisory Board, Dr. Travis Hux
Housing Authority, Sandra Clay
Board of Zoning Adjustments, Ambrose Buckman and Tray Harkins
Historic Preservation Commission, Daryl Couts and Rick Deflan
Vintage Community Improvement District, Chuck Anderson, Nick Houk, Melinda Mehaffey

Mayor Sharron Powell gave a word of gratitude to all of the board volunteers saying “thank you to all of these people who take time to serve. It takes a lot of people to run our city so we appreciate all the work they do.”
