Excelsior Springs, Mo. (Nov. 24, 2024) – The Excelsior Citizen is thrilled to introduce a new feature: Citizen Pet of the Week! Each week, we’ll spotlight a special furry (or not-so-furry) friend who brings joy to their family and our community. Thank you to everyone who submitted their pets for a chance to be featured.

Kicking off this exciting series is none other than Walter, a charming 1.5-year-old Cavapoo (a mix of King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and Poodle). Walter joined his owner, Lilly, when he was just six months old, adopted during her college years—a memory she holds close to her heart.

Lilly, an Excelsior Springs native, shared how Walter has become a beloved member of her life. One of his favorite outings is to Citizens Bank, where he eagerly looks forward to visiting his favorite teller, who never forgets to spoil him with treats. Another guilty pleasure? Walter can’t resist a delicious pup cup on a sunny day.

When asked what makes Walter special, Lilly gushed about his infectious enthusiasm, especially his signature “wiggle butt”—a joyful dance he does whenever he’s excited. Walter’s loving nature and love for cuddles with his favorite people make him an irreplaceable companion.

Walter’s hobbies include chewing on bones, playing with his fur brother Henry, and going on thrilling car rides. Whether it’s a trip to the bank or a cozy evening at home, Walter makes every moment brighter.

Congratulations to Walter for being the very first Citizen Pet of the Week! If you see Walter around town, be sure to say hello (and maybe offer him a treat).

Stay tuned next week as we feature another adorable local pet—maybe it’ll be yours!
