Another exciting week in Excelsior Springs sports delivered thrilling games and notable performances in basketball, wrestling, and beyond.

Monday, December 9, 2024

Middle School: The Boys and Girls Basketball teams took on Cameron Middle School. Middle School Wrestling competed in a tri-meet against multiple schools.

Girls Varsity Basketball: The Lady Tigers battled Oak Grove but fell short in a 35-49 loss. Despite the outcome, the team showed grit as they continued their season.

Tuesday, December 10, 2024

Middle School Basketball: Both Boys and Girls teams faced off against Moreland Ridge Middle School.

High School Matchups:

  • Boys Varsity Basketball: Excelsior Springs faced Richmond but suffered a tough 29-66 loss. 
  • Girls Varsity Wrestling: The Lady Tigers shone in their dual against Winnetonka, claiming a 30-24 victory behind a strong collective effort. The JV wrestlers also showed promise in their matchups.
  • Boys Varsity Wrestling: Competing against Winnetonka, the Tigers narrowly lost 29-41 but showcased improvement as the season progresses.

Middle School Wrestling: The team took on Heritage Middle School in a spirited meet.

C Gold Basketball: The Boys squad faced Winnetonka.

Boys Varsity Wrestling Quad:

  • vs. Cameron: A challenging 22-57 loss.
  • vs. Pleasant Hill: The Tigers rebounded with a hard-fought 42-35 victory.

Boys Varsity Basketball: Excelsior Springs competed in a tournament game against Oak Grove, coming up short 50-58 in a close contest.

Middle School Basketball: Boys and Girls teams faced South Valley Junior Middle School in competitive matchups.

Girls Varsity Basketball: In a nail-biting game against Richmond, the Lady Tigers narrowly lost 45-46, with their season-long improvement evident.

Friday, December 13, 2024

Boys Varsity Basketball: The Tigers squared off against Odessa but fell 43-57. 

Girls Varsity Wrestling: Competing in a tournament against multiple schools, the Lady Tigers earned several top finishes:

  • 1st Place: Gabby Scrivener (170 lbs)
  • 2nd Place: Pyper Layton (135 lbs), Haylee Ray (155 lbs)
  • 3rd Place: Kennedi Winford (105 lbs), Kaitlynn Foster (125 lbs), Emily Hilliard (140 lbs), Wambli Tunstall (145 lbs)
  • 4th Place: Lillah Shue (115 lbs), Lilly Goetz (120 lbs), Adrien Crawley (235 lbs)
