Monday, December 2, 2024

Middle School Wrestling: The week kicked off with a tri-meet against Antioch Middle School. Although scores weren’t provided, the Tigers competed with determination.

C Gold Basketball: Both Boys and Girls teams faced Oak Park at the auxiliary gym. While results remain unreported, these games served as great developmental opportunities for young players.

Middle School Basketball:
The Boys hosted Heritage Middle School, while the Girls traveled to Heritage. Both teams showcased growing skills, with competitive matchups highlighting the evening.

High School Basketball Highlights:

  • JV Girls Basketball: The Lady Tigers secured a win against Lexington at home.
  • Varsity Girls Basketball: Excelsior Springs edged Lexington in a thrilling 45-42 game, improving to 2-1 this season. Strong defense and clutch plays down the stretch sealed the victory.
  • Varsity Boys Basketball: Despite a tough 40-78 loss to Lexington on the road, the team displayed effort and hustle as they continue to build early in the season.

Middle School sports dominated the day with Boys and Girls C Gold Basketball teams taking on Kearney, while ESHS hosted a multi-school wrestling meet.

Thursday, December 5, 2024

Girls Varsity Basketball: The Lady Tigers surged past East High School with a dominant 71-8 win at home, bringing their record to 2-1. The team played with energy and precision.

Friday, December 6, 2024

Speech and Debate: Excelsior Springs shined at the Independence Winter Classic, with Audrey Ishmael claiming 1st place in Dramatic Interpretation out of 51 entries, Mya Williams placed 5th in Informative Speaking, and Emily Jack securing 5th in Oration. Theatre instructor Jeff Haney expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments and character, highlighting their dedication and skill.

Varsity Scholar Bowl: The Tigers faced tough competition against Lee’s Summit North, showcasing their academic prowess and teamwork.

Girls Varsity Wrestling: Competing at NKC, the Lady Tigers finished 5th overall in “Dottie’s Tussle for the Tiara” tournament. Standout performances included:

  • Lilly Goetz: 1st place in the 125 lb category with a perfect 4-0 record.
  • Haylee Ray: 2nd place in the 155 lb division, going 3-1.
  • Analesee Happi: 4th place at 115 lbs with a 3-2 record.

The team scored 125 total points, demonstrating depth and strength across multiple weight classes.
