Body Found in Saline County Identified as Jaynie Crosdale, a Potential Witness in Haslett Case

Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Provides Details on Jaynie Crosdale’s Body Discovery

In an update on the investigation into the discovery of Jaynie Crosdale’s body in Saline County, MO, Missouri Highway Patrol Sergeant Andy Bell, the Communications Officer for Troop A, shed light on the circumstances surrounding the finding.

On or around June 24, 2023, kayakers on the Missouri River reported the discovery of the remains. While specific details about their exact report remain undisclosed, it appears that the kayakers came across a barrel in the river and upon inspection found the remains inside. 

Upon receiving the report, the Missouri Highway Patrol investigative team, including the Division of Drug and Crime Control (DDC), swung into action. Alongside this division, marine operation troopers also joined the coordinated efforts to recover and document the remains that were found. After thorough analysis, the victim was identified as Jaynie Crosdale.

UPDATE: August 1, 2023 2:44pm – Recovery Site Specified

The Missouri Highway Patrol has provided an update regarding the exact location of the discovery of Ms. Crosdale’s remains. According to the latest information, the recovery took place northeast of Waverly, MO, in the Missouri River, within the Cranberry Bend National Wildlife Refuge, specifically the Hills Island Chute.

Law enforcement agencies are acutely aware of the importance of ensuring justice not only for Ms. Crosdale but also for all victims involved. As a result, they are cautiously releasing information to ensure the integrity of the case. The investigation remains dynamic and complex, with new information still being gathered. The collaborative efforts between the Missouri Highway Patrol, Division of Drug and Crime Control, and County and Local law enforcement agencies demonstrate the gravity of this case.
