2023-24 Convocation:
Dr. Jaret Tomlinson provided an update on the August 18th convocation, revealing that the event will commence with breakfast at 7:30 AM in the High School Commons. Subsequently, an all-staff meeting will take place at 8:30 AM in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Dr. Melissa Miller emphasized that this year’s professional development will largely focus on literacy, highlighting the instructional strategies that will be employed.
Building Admin Bootcamp:
Dr. Tomlinson addressed the upcoming Admin Boot Camp meeting scheduled for July 27th. The meeting will bring together Central Office administrators, their administrative assistants, and building administrators to discuss monthly procedures.
2023-24 Admin Retreat:
Dr. Tomlinson shared details about the July 28th Admin Retreat, which will feature a tour of Excelsior Springs via the iconic trolley. The purpose of the tour is to showcase all of the school buildings and provide new administrators with an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the community. Following the tour, lunch and a team-building event will be held.
Lewis Elementary Construction Update:
Dr. Tomlinson provided an update on the progress of the construction at Lewis Elementary. Attendees were shown demolition pictures of the school, indicating the initiation of the construction process. The Maintenance Department is slated to begin moving furniture into the learning cottages next week, while the Technology Department has already commenced work on internet and network access.
Approval of LETRS Stipends:
Dr. Miller’s proposed list of LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Stipends was approved without opposition. This approval ensures that educators will receive the designated stipends as outlined in the presented document.
