Excelsior Springs, Mo. — The Excelsior Springs Christian Ministerial Alliance, in partnership with Mayor Mark Spohn, invites the community to attend the 2025 Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 1, from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. at the Elms Hotel and Spa.

This annual event brings together civic leaders, community members, and local churches for a morning of reflection, unity, and encouragement. Tickets are available for $10 and can be purchased at area churches, the Chamber Office, the City Manager’s Office, from John McGovern, or directly from the Mayor.

This year’s keynote speaker is Pastor Jon C. Nelson, founder and lead pastor of Soma Community Church in Jefferson City. A native of Kansas City, Pastor Nelson leads a multi-ethnic, multi-generational congregation focused on building disciples and impacting communities. He is known for his bold leadership and passionate communication. Pastor Nelson and his wife are proud parents of four children.

The program will begin with a presentation of the Colors by the Job Corps NJROTC, followed by the Excelsior Springs High School Choir performing the National Anthem and a special musical selection. Prayers will be offered for the city, state, and nation, as well as for public officials, city workers, school administrators, and students.

“We aim to conclude by 8:00 a.m. so that our local businesspeople can attend and still make it to work on time,” said Mike Boudreaux, President of the ES Christian Ministerial Alliance. “We hope this gathering offers encouragement and reminds us of the strength we find when we come together as a community.”
