Animal of the Week: Meet Willow, the Sweetheart Ready for Her Forever Home

Excelsior Springs, Mo. – When visiting the Excelsior Springs Animal Control Center, a few things stand out: the excited dogs up front, the smiling faces behind the counter, and beautiful Willow, who has been with the center since February 10, 2025.

As the center’s longest current resident, Willow has adjusted quickly to life in the shelter. She often finds cozy nooks and greets feline friends and human visitors. Now, she is looking for the loving stability of a permanent family that can return her warmth and companionship tenfold.

Willow is an outgoing, affectionate, and determined 5-year-old tabby with a tastefully playful demeanor. A photo isn’t capable of capturing her light-up-the-room personality. She loves to hike up onto her hind legs to make sure her head meets your hand, an adorable personality trait that makes an impression. She responds well when prompted with toys and treats, and she is litter-box trained.

“She’s got all the personality,” said animal control officer Melissa Davis, who shared that Willow loves to play with toys and greet humans. “She is attention-seeking, she’s personable, friendly, outgoing… she’s a perfect little cat!”

Don’t let the sweet face fool you—Willow’s got moves! This playful tabby is always up for a game of catch-the-feather.

Willow has been spayed, and her adoption fee is sponsored. Customers can adopt fee-free animals after completing a thorough application process. She is house-trained and gets along well with other cats, and would fit in nicely with laid-back dogs that are acclimated to felines. Although she enjoys company, she’s not a high-energy kitty at 5 years old; her ideal home would be with older children or in an otherwise relaxed environment.

Willow and her brother Martin joined the center after her previous owner was moved into assisted living. Martin has since moved on to another facility, but Willow has stayed rooted and ready to be chosen!

How to Make Willow Part of Your Family

Adopting Willow is as simple as calling the Excelsior Springs Animal Control Center at (816) 630-0816.  Leave a message, and a staff member will call you back to schedule an appointment. Because her adoption has been sponsored, she is fee-free to a qualified applicant who can provide her the purrfect fit. Whether you’re a lifelong cat lover or looking for your first feline friend, Willow is ready to fill your home with head boops, cuddles, and an unbeatable personality!
