Ameren Missouri Adds $1 Million to Weatherization Program for Local Energy Savings

As the cooler months approach, Excelsior Springs residents have an opportunity to benefit from Ameren Missouri’s expanded weatherization program. The company recently announced an additional $1 million in funding to help homeowners and renters make energy-saving improvements to their homes—at no cost to qualifying participants.

So far in 2024, Ameren Missouri has invested over $2 million into weatherization efforts, providing critical improvements such as caulking, weather stripping, water heater jackets, and insulation. These updates can help local residents stay comfortable through the changing seasons while lowering their energy bills.

“We know how important it is for families to maintain a comfortable living environment without worrying about high energy costs,” said Page Selby, manager of customer advocacy for Ameren Missouri. “We’re encouraging anyone who may need assistance to apply now and take advantage of the resources available through our weatherization and energy assistance programs.”

Who Qualifies?

The program is available to households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level. For a family of four, this means a monthly income of up to $5,200. Residents who are part of Ameren Missouri’s Keeping Current program, as well as elderly and disabled individuals, will be given preference for weatherization assistance.

Keeping Current offers additional support, including monthly bill credits ranging from $35 to $90, along with options to reduce the total amount owed on energy bills. Combined with the weatherization improvements, these programs are designed to relieve the financial burden on local families while making homes more energy-efficient.
