November 4, 2022 – They’re creepy and they’re kooky, and they’re all together fabulous! The students and staff of the ESHS Theatre Department have put together another amazing show in The Addams Family – A New Musical Comedy. The opening weekend shows delivered plenty of hearty laughs, along with catchy, toe-tapping tunes. All of the expected Addams Family jokes and characters came included along with a few new twists to keep the story energized. As always, the sets, costumes, and lighting were on par with shows you might find in major metropolitan areas and larger venues.
All of the students delivered great performances, and several actors surprised with talent that left the audience hooting, hollering, and thoroughly entertained. Em Rice astounded friends and family with her transformation into Morticia, delivering some of the biggest laughs of the evening. Freshman, Kate Houck gave a fantastic vocal performance as Wednesday Addams and really “killed.” Maddox Stewart as Uncle Fester and Sydney Strack as Grandma had great comedy timing and had the audience reeling with laughter. Kelsey Coleman as Alice was one of the biggest delights, really making the character her own.
The Addams Family Musical had been on hold for more than two years due to COVID restrictions, but the performances were fresh and lively. This was Jeff Haney’s 91st directorial production and he had the help of several talented staff. Tim Harlan served as Music Director, Xavier Robles was Scenic Designer, Julia Ubert and Robles were Technical Directors, and student Lydia McLean planned the Choreography.
If you missed opening weekend you still have two more opportunities to catch The Addams Family Musical. The show will run again on November 11th and 12th at 7:00 PM. Tickets are available at the door or can be purchased online at https://espac.ludus.com/.
