Commuters and residents traveling between Excelsior Springs and Kearney should be prepared for significant detours. Last week, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) announced the closure of Missouri Route 92 for replacement of the stone culvert located between Woodcliffe Circle and Cordell Road.
Images from the MoDOT website show the culvert that will be replaced.
The project, which officially began today (October 23, 2023), is estimated to wrap up by mid-January. However, as always with outdoor projects of this scale, completion is contingent upon the weather. The detour route for those going east on Route 92 is south on Missouri Route 33 in Kearney to north U.S. Route 69, bringing drivers to the very east of 92 Hwy in Excelsior Springs. For drivers going west on Route 92 is the reverse: South on U.S. Route 69 from Excelsior Springs to north Missouri Route 33 into Kearney and onto Route 92.
Anyone looking for more information about the project specifics, detailed information can be found on the MoDOT project page at www.modot.org/missouri-route-92-culvert-replacement-clay.
