10 Highway Closure Scheduled for Tree Trimming

A temporary road closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2023.

October 17, 2023 – Excelsior Springs residents and commuters are advised to plan ahead for a temporary road closure scheduled for October 26, 2023. According to Excelsior Springs Public Works Director Chad Birdsong, a section of 10 Highway will be closed to through traffic for maintenance and tree trimming.

The affected area will span from Regent Ave to Saratoga Ave. The reason behind this temporary closure is to allow the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to trim trees that overhang the roadway. Simultaneously, city crews will be conducting tree-trimming operations along Siloam Mountain Park and around street lights to help increase visibility.

During the closure, a crew will be present to help direct traffic. The only exception to this closure will be for large tractor-trailer vehicles or customers of Darkside Tinting, which is located just east of the work zone.

Traffic will be rerouted around the closure area using Regent Ave, Marietta Street, Broadway Ave, Saratoga Ave, and Temple Ave. The closure is scheduled to be effective from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, Birdsong said that the teams will work as quickly as possible, and there is a possibility that the road may reopen sooner than scheduled.

Excelsior Springs residents and those passing through the area are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly on October 26, 2023, and to use the designated detour routes to avoid any inconvenience.
